Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information CodeFoundry collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built this Platform on a simple principle: collect only what's needed to run your learning experience, and nothing more.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, and a small amount generated automatically as you use the Platform:

  • Account information — display name, email address, and a securely hashed password.
  • Learning activity — course enrollments, quiz scores and level completion, Implementation Guide progress, and certificates earned, so your Progress page and certificates stay accurate.
  • Support & communications — messages you send via Support tickets or Live Chat, so we can respond to you.
  • Billing details — where a paid feature is used, payment is processed by our payment provider; we store only high-level plan/order metadata, never full card numbers.
  • Technical data — basic request metadata (such as browser type and timestamps) used for security and reliability, not for advertising.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information above to: operate your account and save your learning progress; issue and verify certificates; respond to support requests; secure the Platform against abuse; and improve course content based on aggregate (never individually identifying) completion trends.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your learning data to build advertising profiles.

3. How We Share Information

We share information only where necessary to run the Platform:

  • With payment processors, solely to complete a transaction you initiate;
  • With service providers who host our infrastructure, under confidentiality obligations;
  • When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of CodeFoundry, our learners, or the public;
  • With your consent, such as when you choose to display a certificate publicly.

4. Cookies & Tracking

We use a minimal set of first-party cookies to keep you signed in and to remember basic preferences. See our Cookies Policy for the full list and how to control them through your browser settings.

5. Data Security

Passwords are stored using one-way cryptographic hashing (never in plain text). Access to backend data is restricted to authorized Admin accounts, and administrative actions are scoped to a separate authentication system from customer accounts. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard practices appropriate to a platform of this size.

6. Data Retention

We retain account and learning-progress data for as long as your account is active, so your history, certificates, and progress remain available to you. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymize personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.

7. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. You can update your name, email, and password at any time from your Profile page. To request a data export or deletion beyond what self-service supports, contact us via Support.

8. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.

9. International Users

Our services may be hosted and processed in countries other than your own. By using the Platform, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in such locations, subject to appropriate safeguards.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above, and where appropriate, we will provide additional notice.

11. Contact

Privacy questions or requests can be sent through Support or directly to privacy@codefoundry.org.
